If you’ve tried going to a gym or health club and realised it’s not for you, yet you still want to stay healthy, there are other ways to do it. You don’t have to join a gym or fitness club to keep fit or be healthier this year. Here are the top three ways to stay healthy even without going to the gym.
Tak a walk
Admittedly, taking a walk whilst the weather is bad isn’t really a good option. But if the weather is good, take advantage of it and take a nice walk around your city or neighbourhood. Walking is not a high-impact exercise, but it allows you to stay active and burn calories. Make sure, though, that you have a good pair of shoes when you go walking. If you want, you can even make your walk more interesting by signing up for a walking tour – you’ll not only be able to exercise, you’ll learn something new as well.
Alternatively, if you’re always at work and can’t seem to fit walking into your schedule, why not do some walking whilst you’re at your workplace? Simply find an empty stairwell or empty room and walk to your heart’s content. You can do this for a few minutes each day or during your lunch break, and you’ll see the difference in no time.
Check what’s on offer online
If the gym or health club isn’t for you but you want to be more active, you can try out different offers to be found on the Internet. There are plenty of sites which offer packages such as rock climbing, yoga classes, bike tours, and even sailing classes. Check out some fitness deals which you can get online and take advantage of them whenever you can. This not only saves you money, it allows you to find out what you can really get into and enjoy.
Make your chores fun
Doing chores isn’t really associated with enjoyment, but you can certainly make it that way! If it’s your turn to do the chores, you can make it more enjoyable, especially when it comes to heavy, high-calorie-burning chores such as scrubbing the bath or vacuuming. Get in the right mood by switching on some upbeat tunes. You can even get a more intense workout by doing squats or pushups whenever a new song plays.
More ways to stay healthy
If you spend a lot of time at work, you can also do a bit of exercising at your desk. Stand up, stretch, or do some lunges. Take your breaks or eat lunch standing up. If you feel like a snack, distract yourself by playing a game like online bingo, or give someone a ring. Do whatever it takes to stay active and eat better, and you’re well on your way to being fit.
